Among very few actresses, Shilpa Shetty was nominated for her first film 'Baazigar'. The
following year she delivered another blockbuster hit 'Main Khiladi Tu Anari' where she
starred with Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan. However, the proceeding years her movies failed
to succeed at the box office, though she did receive critical acclaim for some of her
performances. Then in 1998, 'Pardesi Babu' was released and people noticed her again. Two
years after that she finally delivered a super hit, 'Dhadkan'. Since then her career has
taken an up turn. In 2002, she had several releases and films like 'Hathyar' and 'Rishtey'.
They solidified her status as a brilliant actress. In 'Rishtey' she stole the show from
superstars Anil Kapoor and Karishma Kapoor. However, it was in 2004 that her performance in
'Phir Milenge' that brought her to the top actress list. In 2005, she delivered modest hits
like 'Fareb' (where she costarred with sister Shamita Shetty and Manoj Bajpai) and Dus.

Her father, Andrew Robert Goody (February 1963[73] - August 2005), who was of mixed race,
was a drug addict and habitual criminal, who served prison sentences including a four-year
term for robbery.[75] He died of a drugs overdose in Bournemouth, aged 42. Her mother,
Jackiey Budden, was born in April 1958.
In January 2007, she was a housemate in Celebrity Big Brother. During the show she was
accused of racist bullying against Indian actress Shilpa Shetty. Following her eviction from
the show, she admitted her actions has been wrong and she subsequently made many public
apologies.[5] In August 2008, she appeared on the Indian version of Big Brother, Bigg Boss,
before withdrawing from the show and returning to the UK the same month when she was
diagnosed with cervical cancer whilst a housemate in Bigg Boss. In February 2009, after the
